So I have decided to start a photo Blog. Pretty much I will just be chronicling my journeys and shoots.
The first decision is where to begin with this endeavor and I think it is best to begin at the beginning. So first a little history about myself.
Name - James Vincent Banks Jr
Born and raised here in Illinois living most of my life in the western suburbs of Chicago. I first became interested in photography in High school. At that time we were still living in the age of analog Film cameras. After a few years, between the cost of film, renting darkroom time, equipment buying chemicals and paper.. the cost just exceeded my means at the time, and other than the occasional shooting I pretty much did not pick up a camera for some time.
Now shotgun through the years to the 2000's.
Digital Photography is really starting to take off, and the wife and I are headed to a wedding in Vegas. So we decide to pick up a digital point-and-shoot. Nothing special here just a 3mp Olympus. I start using it and soon am hooked again and start looking for a DSLR, thus I pick up my first Canon Rebel.
I've been happily taking images for some time now again slowly relearning what I had forgotten to time. Finally in 2011 I set up Erehwon Photography, based on request to purchase copies of my work.
I have been asked about the name, and what does Erehwon mean? Is it native American? Nope, it is simply the word Nowhere spelled backwards. I decided to use this as most of my images are taken out in the middle of Nowhere.
Well that's all... This first blog is pretty much just for me to play around and figure out how this works on here. Future posts will simply chronicle my outings and shoots.
See you in the field...
